OfficePower and Solaris Version 8

OfficePower 2000 (and OfficePower/Xtra version 5) is supported on Solaris version 7. At the date of release of OfficePower 2000, Teamware Group are still evaluating Solaris 8, and formal support of this version by OfficePower 2000 will be announced at a later date. Use of OfficePower/Xtra on Solaris version 8 will not be supported.

Several changes which affect OfficePower have been identified in Solaris 8, and amendments for a number of these have been included in OfficePower 2000. However, there are currently two known outstanding issues with using OfficePower 2000 under Solaris 8:

Installation

The error message "couldn't set locale" occurs several times during installation of OfficePower on Solaris 8. Ignore these messages and the installation will continue.

LDAP library

Solaris 8 includes a SUN-supplied LDAP library (package SUNWldapx). OfficePower 2000's X.500 support will not work with the SUN LDAP library. During installation, OfficePower 2000 installs its own LDAP library, and overwrites the symbolic link libldap.so to point to the OfficePower LDAP library instead of the SUN one. Thus the SUN LDAP library (libldap.so.3), although still present on the machine, will not be available to other applications once OfficePower has been installed.
