How OfficePower Licence Keys Work

Customer system administrators need to type in licence keys in the form of alphanumeric strings to each OfficePower server before they can use the OfficePower licences that have been purchased for that server. When upgrading to a new version of OfficePower/Xtra, new licence keys are needed to ‘activate’ new features - for example, when upgrading from V3 to V4, you must obtain and enter new licence keys before you can use features such as Web Access.

When a customer orders OfficePower licences, he receives back a ‘licence notification’ and instructions. An application form for licence keys is FAXed by the customer to TeamWARE Group who will return by FAX the required keys.

For a new OfficePower server, the customer also needs to apply on the form for a unique OfficePower ‘systems identifier’ for the server (supplying a name for his server, e.g. ‘ACME LTD’) this number being used as part of the algorithm used to generate the licence key.

For an existing OfficePower server, the customer needs to quote the existing ‘systems identifier’ while applying for changed licence keys.

For a replacement server, the systems identifier of a replaced server can be reused.

(The system identifier is visible on the first screen after login to a text terminal, or the administrator can check this from the ‘administration’ category, ‘update OfficePower options’ by checking a licence key record.)
