Introduction
OfficePower users are increasingly being required to interact with other internal
communities of users, some running Microsoft Exchange. This typically occurs when a
department inside a larger organisation wishes to join the existing OfficePower network
to create a single virtual messaging infrastructure.
At first sight, OfficePower on UNIX platforms and MS Exchange on NT may not appear to
offer many interworking opportunities. However, not only are users able to interchange mail,
objects and directory information transparently, there can, in some cases, be more than one
method available.
This document outlines the approaches available for connecting the two mail systems and
synchronising the OfficePower and Exchange directory systems to enable a single corporate
Directory service.
